To start, we need your full parentage details and your place and date of birth. If you have been married before, your divorce must first be registered, or the death certificate of the previous spouse provided where applicable.
Unlike birth certificates, single status certificates have a strict validity abroad, usually expiring three to six months after issue, because a person's civil status can change. We therefore time the process so it reaches you exactly when you need it for your appointment.
The costliest mistake is not being slow, it is submitting a document the receiving body will not accept. A certificate without MINJUS legalization, or without the apostille required by the country where you will use it, is rejected and the procedure goes back to square one. The same happens when the recipient requires a sealed envelope and it arrives opened. These errors only surface once the file has already been submitted, and fixing them from outside Cuba takes weeks.
